Description

Too low in the south to image from my own backyard, the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex was imaged by the RASC Robotic Telescope using their modified DSLR & 200mm lens, piggy-backed on their main telescope, in April of 2021.

Rho Ophiuchi is a star formation region relatively close to our own solar system, and was recently imaged by JWST to mark the one-year anniversary of the release of its first images. I have always been taken by the yellow reflection nebulosity of Antares. The RASC DSLR data was a little more forgiving than the Mars & M45 image I recently processed, though gradients posed a HUGE challenge.
